When the almond trees bloom

“The almond trees have bloomed!”

This, in plain Greek, means that spring is here; even if it’s still not warm enough and it still rains some days, even if it’s just the first day of the first month of my most loved season, when you hear that the almond trees have bloomed, then you know that the days of no coats, no socks, no boots are more than close.

And these are the days when this city comes a step closer to being more human, more subtle, more beautiful and more scented. These are the days that I love it even more.
